The Search for Life Beyond Earth and Science of the SETI Institute - Bi...

Δημοσιεύτηκε στις 1 Ιουλ 2016

The
SETI Institute is a 32 year-old non-profit research institute whose
mission is to explore, understand and explain the nature of life in the
universe. Most famous for its use of radio astronomy for the search for
extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) the Institute is actually a
multidisciplinary research organization where more than 70 scientists
cover the full spectrum of the physical and biological sciences to
explore the origins of life beyond earth. In this presentation, CEO Bill
Diamond, will share the history, science, mission and future direction
of the SETI Institute.

On
July 4th 2016, the Juno spacecraft entered orbit around the planet
Jupiter after leaving earth five years ago. The Juno probe will tell us
what lies inside the mysterious gas giant and with this information
we’ll better understand the formation of our solar system. In this
episode, find out how Jupiter wreaked havoc through the solar system
during its early formation and how without it the Earth as we know it
would not exist.

Discovery Channel - Universe or Multiverse | Nova space Documentary 2016
-
The multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of finite and
infinite possible universes, including the universe in which we live.
Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety
of space, time, matter, energy, and the physical laws and constants that
describe them.

The various universes within the multiverse are called "parallel universes", "other universes" or "alternate universes."

The American philosopher and psychologist William James coined the term multiverse in 1895, but in a different context.

Discovery Channel - SPACE TRANSPORTATION | BBC Documentary 2016
-
The Space Transportation System (STS) was a proposed system of reusable
manned space vehicles envisioned by NASA in 1969 to support extended
operations beyond the Apollo program. (NASA appropriated the name for
its Space Shuttle Program, the only component of the proposal to survive
Congressional funding approval
- The Space Shuttle is developed by
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA coordinates and
manages the Space Transportation System (NASA's name for the overall
Shuttle program), including intergovernmental agency requirements and
international and joint projects. NASA also oversees the launch and
space flight requirements for civilian and commercial use.
The Space
Shuttle system consists of four primary elements: an orbiter spacecraft,
two Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB), an external tank to house fuel and
oxidizer and three Space Shuttle main engines.
The orbiter is
built by Rockwell International's Space Transportation Systems Division,
Downey, Calif., which also has responsibility for the integration of
the overall space transportation system. Both orbiter and integration
contracts are under the direction of NASA's Johnson Space Center in
Houston, Texas.
