45 Soyuz Commander Sergei Volkov of the Russian Federal Space Agency
(Roscosmos) and visiting crew members Andreas Mogensen of the European
Space Agency (ESA) and Aidyn Aimbetov of the Kazakh Space Agency
(Kazcosmos), and their backups, Oleg Skripochka and Sergei Prokopyev of
Roscosmos and Thomas Pesquet of ESA appeared before the Russian State
Commission on Sept. 1 in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The commission gave its
final approval for the launch of Volkov, Mogensen and Aimbetov to the
International Space Station on Sept. 2, Kazakh time in their Soyuz
TMA-18M spacecraft. The crew members also conducted a final prelaunch
news conference at the Cosmonaut Hotel crew quarters in Baikonur
